Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Inventive Goods LLC, doing business as Inventive Garage & Workshop (“Inventive Garage,” “we,” “us” or “our”), collects, uses and shares personal information through InventiveGarage.com (the “Site”) and when you contact us by phone, chat, email or text.

This Privacy Policy also serves as our notice at collection under applicable state privacy laws. It does not apply to independent websites you reach through links on the Site.

Information We Collect

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we automatically collect information about your device, including your web browser, IP address, time zone and the cookies installed on your device. We also collect information about the pages or products you view, the websites or referral links that brought you to the Site, and how you interact with the Site. We refer to this as “Device Information.”

We use the following technologies to collect Device Information:

  • Cookies: data files placed on your device or computer that often contain an anonymous unique identifier.
  • Log files: track actions on the Site and collect data including your IP address, browser type, internet service provider and more.
  • Web beacons, tags and pixels: electronic files used to record your browsing activity on the Site.

Device Information includes your approximate location (city or region), which we derive from your IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation from your device.

Information you provide. When you make or attempt to make a purchase, we collect information such as your name, billing and shipping addresses, payment information, email address and phone number. We refer to this as “Order Information.” Payments are processed by our payment providers, currently Shopify Payments (credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay), Shop Pay and PayPal, and, where it is shown at checkout, Shop Pay Installments, which is provided by Affirm, Inc. Affirm receives the information you give when you apply and makes its own credit decision. Our payment providers receive your payment details directly and handle them under their own privacy policies; we do not receive or store your full card number.

When you contact us, use our free design service, or upload photos of your garage, attic or workshop, we collect the information you choose to give us, such as your name, contact details, project details, measurements and photos. We use it to answer your questions and recommend products.

Live chat. If you use the chat feature on the Site, our chat provider, Tawk.to, processes your messages on our behalf, and we keep a transcript of the conversation. The chat window tells you this before you send your first message.

Phone calls and text messages. Our business phone system is provided by Aircall. We record and transcribe calls to and from our customer service lines, and Aircall creates automated summaries of them, so that we have an accurate record of your questions and orders. We tell you that a call is being recorded before the recording starts. Text messages you exchange with us are kept in Aircall and in our HubSpot customer records.

Discounts for military and other groups. If you request our military discount, our verification provider, GovX, verifies your eligibility on its own website and under its own privacy policy, and we receive only confirmation of your eligibility, not your service records. For our other group discounts, such as those for nurses and first responders, students and teachers, and seniors and caregivers, you send proof of eligibility to us by email. We use it only to verify your eligibility and keep it only as long as we need it for that purpose. Please cover any identification number on a document before you send it.

Product reviews. If you post a product review, our reviews app, Rapid Reviews, collects your name, email address and the review, rating and any photos you submit. Your review may be displayed publicly on the Site with your name or initials.

Feedback form. If you use the Feedback Form on the Site, we collect your rating, comments, name, email address and city. Submissions reach us through Formspree, a form service that processes them on our behalf. We publish your feedback on the Site or in our marketing only if you give permission on the form, and then only with the name format you choose; we never publish your email address. We publish feedback as written, except for light edits for length that do not change its meaning. You can ask us to remove your feedback at any time by emailing team@InventiveGarage.com.

Text messages. If you agree to receive text messages from us, we collect your mobile number and use it as described in the consent you give. Our marketing emails and text messages are sent through Klaviyo. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to opt out at any time. We do not share mobile numbers or text-message consent with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Information from other sources. We also receive personal information from Trade Partners (as described below); from payment processors (for example, fraud-screening results); from shipping carriers and suppliers (for example, delivery status); and from advertising and analytics partners (for example, how you responded to our ads).

Sensitive information. We do not ask for or intentionally collect sensitive personal information, such as government identification numbers, financial account credentials, precise geolocation, or information about health, race, religion or sexual orientation. Please do not include this kind of information in photos or messages you send us.

Artificial intelligence. We do not use or sell your personal information to train artificial intelligence models, including large language models. We use automated tools provided by Aircall to transcribe and summarize customer service calls for our own records. We do not set individual prices based on your personal information. If a chat or planning tool on the Site uses an automated assistant, the tool will tell you that you are dealing with an automated system, and you can ask to reach a person.

How We Use Information

We use Order Information to fulfill orders, communicate with you, provide product support, screen for risk and fraud and, consistent with applicable law and your choices, send you information or advertising about our products. We use Device Information to operate and improve the Site, screen for risk and fraud, and measure and personalize our advertising. If you make a purchase or sign up for our emails, we may send you marketing emails subject to applicable law and your choices. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email; we will still send you messages about your orders. We use cookies and similar technologies to understand your interests and to show you ads on other websites through advertising partners such as Google, Meta (Facebook) and Microsoft (Bing). We may also use personal information to notify you of product recalls or safety notices, to comply with legal obligations, and to enforce our Terms of Service. We do not use personal information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

How We Share Information

We share personal information with service providers that help us operate our business as described above. For example, we use Shopify to host our online store and process orders, and Google Analytics to understand how customers use the Site. You can learn how Shopify uses personal information at shopify.com/legal/privacy and how Google uses it at policies.google.com/privacy. We also use Google Workspace to keep our business records, including Trade Partner referral records. HubSpot receives customer and order information from our store and records visits to the Site, and Klaviyo receives customer and order information so that we can send our marketing emails and text messages. We use Tawk.to to provide live chat on the Site, Aircall for our business phone and text messages, Rapid Reviews to collect and display product reviews, Formspree to receive submissions from our Feedback Form, and GovX to verify eligibility for our military discount. We share shipping details with the carriers, manufacturers and suppliers that fulfill and deliver your order, and we share Device Information with advertising partners as described below. We may also share personal information to comply with laws and regulations, protect our rights, respond to a lawful request for information, or in connection with a sale, merger or reorganization of our business.

Advertising and analytics partners, including Google and Meta, may collect information directly from your browser through cookies and pixels on the Site, such as the pages you view and the products you purchase, and may receive an encrypted (hashed) version of your email address or phone number to measure our ads.

If you follow a link from the Site to an independent service, such as the installation-coordination service on our Installations page, information you give that service is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. We do not send it your personal information.

We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

Trade Partner Referrals

Some customers are referred to us by independent contractors, builders and other businesses in our Trade Partner Program. When you visit the Site through a Trade Partner’s link or QR code, we record that partner’s referral code and the date of your first visit with your cart and any order you place, so that we can credit the referral. A purchase made within 90 days of that visit is credited to the referring partner.

A Trade Partner may also pass your name and contact details to us so that we can follow up on your inquiry. We record referrals, including your name, city and state, in our own records so that we can match them to orders.

We do not share your contact details or payment information with Trade Partners. The statements we send them show only the order reference, order date, product unit and referral fee. Trade Partners are independent businesses, and any information you give a Trade Partner directly is handled under that partner’s own practices.

Information about Trade Partners. When a contractor applies to or participates in our Trade Partner Program, we collect business and contact information, referral and payment records, and the tax information we need to report referral fees (such as a Form W-9). We use this information to administer the program, pay referral fees and meet our tax reporting obligations.

Targeted Advertising

We use Device Information to show you targeted advertisements. The advertising tags that currently run on the Site are those of Meta (Facebook), Google (Google Ads, including through Google Tag Manager at checkout) and Microsoft Advertising (Bing). You can learn more about how targeted advertising works by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative’s educational page.

You can opt out of targeted advertising by using the links below:

You can also opt out of some of these services by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out portal.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Our Site does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a request to opt out of targeted advertising and of any “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for that browser, wherever you live.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: (a) confirm whether we process your personal information and access it; (b) correct inaccurate personal information; (c) delete your personal information; (d) obtain a copy of your personal information in a portable format; and (e) opt out of targeted advertising, the “sale” of personal information and certain profiling. We do not sell personal information for money. Some state laws treat the use of advertising cookies as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information; you may opt out as described under “Targeted Advertising” above.

You can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for targeted advertising by clicking the “Your Privacy Choices” link in the footer of the Site, by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or by contacting us as described below.

To exercise these rights, use our online privacy request form (linked in the footer of the Site), email us at OrderHelp@InventiveGarage.com or call 800-948-7780. A request to delete covers personal information we hold about you from any source, including details a Trade Partner passed to us. We will verify your request before responding, and you may use an authorized agent where the law allows. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond within the time required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

California residents may also request information about any disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. As stated above, we do not make such disclosures.

Categories of Personal Information (State Law Disclosures)

In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information, from the sources described above, for the purposes described under “How We Use Information”:

  • Identifiers, such as your name, postal address, email address, phone number, IP address and online identifiers. Disclosed to service providers, carriers and suppliers; online identifiers and IP addresses are also disclosed to advertising partners.
  • Customer records, such as billing information and order details. Disclosed to service providers, payment processors, carriers and suppliers.
  • Commercial information, such as products you viewed, purchased or returned. Disclosed to service providers; purchase events are also disclosed to advertising partners.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity, such as browsing history on the Site and your interactions with our ads and emails. Disclosed to service providers and advertising partners.
  • Approximate geolocation derived from your IP address. Disclosed to service providers and advertising partners.
  • Audio and visual information, such as photos you upload and recordings of customer service calls. Disclosed to service providers only.
  • Professional information, such as the business details of Trade Partners. Disclosed to service providers only.
  • Inferences, such as product interests drawn from your browsing. Disclosed to advertising partners.

We do not sell personal information for money. We disclose identifiers, commercial information, internet activity, approximate geolocation and inferences to advertising partners for targeted advertising; some state laws treat those disclosures as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We have no actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

The Site is intended for customers in the United States. If you access the Site from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, and those jurisdictions may have different data-protection laws. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, as follows:

  • Trade Partner referral and payment records: for the duration of the Trade Partner relationship and as long as needed to reconcile and report referral fees, generally seven years after the fee is paid.
  • Customer service and design-service records, including photos, call recordings and transcripts, chat transcripts and messages: for as long as needed to answer your request and support any resulting order, generally three years after our last contact with you.
  • Marketing lists: until you unsubscribe. We then keep your email address and mobile number on a suppression list so that we do not contact you again.
  • Device and analytics data: cookies expire on schedules set by us and our partners, generally within two years, and analytics data is kept for 14 months.

If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so except where we must keep it for these purposes or by law. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it. We keep de-identified information in de-identified form and do not attempt to re-identify it, except as the law permits.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date above.

Minors

The Site and our sales are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
